Inside Minutei: A Conversation with the team
In a startup world that often prioritizes products over people, Minutei places culture and communication at its core. We sat down with Tasfia Meher, team lead for Culture & Comms to discuss team-building, inclusion, and how PR reflects the company’s heart.
Team Minutei: In Bangladesh, startup culture is often overshadowed by rapid growth. Why was prioritizing people and communication a cornerstone for Minutei from the start?
Tasfia: A product can be brilliant, but without a cared-for team, it’s just an idea. At Minutei, we believe culture is the foundation that brings our delivery promise to life. When employees are supported, mentally, physically, and emotionally, they pour their best into their work. That’s why we combat burnout with wellness initiatives; a nurtured team creates better experiences for customers. Culture isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s the spark that drives innovation, loyalty, and lasting success.
Team Minutei: (nods, smiling) That resonates deeply. Let’s talk about the team. How did you approach building Minutei’s early team?
Tasfia: Starting with our three cofounders, we built the team with intention and care, focusing on shared values like empathy and resilience. We took our time, tapping trusted networks to find people who’d thrive in our supportive environment. It wasn’t about filling seats but finding souls who’d grow with us, creating a tight-knit family who truly belong.
Team Minutei: Finding souls, love that. When hiring, what qualities do you prioritize in new team members?
Tasfia: We look for heart. In practice, that means proactiveness, agility, dedication, and responsiveness. Skills can be taught, but attitude can’t. If someone shows hustle, ownership, and loyalty, we know they’ll grow with us. We also value warmth, people who care about their teammates and bring kindness to their work, but the baseline is showing up, adapting fast, and following through.
Team Minutei: That warmth must shine in team moments. What’s a standout memory of team unity?
Tasfia: Our annual day out was unforgettable. Nearly everyone showed up, and the energy was electric. Seeing quieter team members open up, sharing laughs and stories, felt like a warm hug for the whole team. It wasn’t just fun; it was a reminder that our focus on care builds a family that’s unstoppable together.
Team Minutei: Quick commerce can be relentless. How do you support employee wellness during intense times?
Tasfia: We lead with empathy. We don’t push people until they burn out, team leads check in regularly, and are expected to step in and support if someone’s struggling. We plan quarterly and annual refresh programs (off-sites, skill workshops, chill days) to reset energy, and we keep feedback loops open so issues are caught early. It’s about being proactive, not reactive: supportive managers, clear signals to take time off, and practical programs that actually help the team recharge.
Team Minutei: (nods approvingly) Communication seems central to this, both internally and externally. How does it build trust inside and outside Minutei?
Tasfia: Communication is our bridge to trust. Internally, we foster safe spaces with open forums and personal check-ins, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued. Externally, clear, honest updates with customers and partners build reliability. It’s about showing we care through every word, fostering lasting connections.
Team Minutei: Any key lessons about communication that reshaped your leadership approach?
Tasfia: It’s not one-size-fits-all. Some need quick chats, others deeper conversations. Listening with empathy and adapting to each person’s style builds stronger bonds and reduces stress. This approach has been a game-changer in keeping our team vibrant and connected.
Team Minutei: Looking ahead, how do you hope people describe working with Minutei?
Tasfia: As warm and uplifting, a place where you’re supported to grow, feel valued, and enjoy the journey, whether you’re a team member or a partner.
Team Minutei: One last fun question: Sum up Minutei’s culture in one word and why?
Tasfia: Vibrant. It captures our lively, caring spirit—a team that’s energized, inclusive, and deeply committed to each other’s well-being.
Team Minutei: Perfect. Final wrap: How do you ensure external PR reflects Minutei’s caring culture?
Tasfia: We share authentic stories: team moments, our wellness focus through social media, and partnerships. It’s about showing the world the same heart we bring to our work every day, building a brand that feels human and approachable.
